About this role

1) Engineering Design & Detailed CalculaTIons (Solar PV & BESS) A) Perform and/or review detailed engineering calculaTIons across Electrical, Civil, and Structural scopes for solar PV plants (50 kW to >100 MW) for Small, C&I scale and UTIlity Scale plants. B) Lead PV plant design including but not limited to: a) PV array design, string sizing, DC/AC raTIo, inverter sizing, transformer sizing, cable sizing, earthing/grounding, lightning protecTIon, protecTIons & relays, short-circuit and loadflow studies, harmonics, auxiliary systems and staTIon supply. b) Civil/structural design coordinaTIon for foundaTIons, mounTIng structures, tracker systems (if used), equipment plinths, drainage, roads, fencing, buildings and layouts. C) Lead BESS engineering: Technology selecTIon, sizing, integraTIon architecture, thermal management requirements, safety concepts, and grid interface requirements. 2) Controls, AutomaTIon (EMS/SCADA) & ProtecTIon (ProtecTIon Relays) : A) Develop/validate control logics for various operaTIng stages: start-up/shutdown sequences, normal operaTIon, hybrid plant operaTIng condiTIons, fault condiTIons, islanding, grid support funcTIons, black start philosophy and BESS charge/discharge strategies based on economic evaluaTIons. B) Support engineering related to EMS, SCADA, plant controller, inverter controls, and plant monitoring design - define signals list, alarms, interlocks, and reporTIng requirements. 3) Technology Leadership & Standards A) Maintain strong awareness of latest trends in PV and BESS technology, grid-code pracTIces, safety standards, and performance opTImizaTIon methods. B) Establish engineering standards, templates, and design guidelines for repeatable, compliant designs suitable for Central African CondiTIons (grid, climate, logisTIcs, spares strategy). 4) Engineering Support to OperaTIng Plants (Performance & Reliability) A) Conduct engineering evaluaTIon of running plants: idenTIfy performance gaps, losses and root causes; recommend technical remedies and economically opTImal upgrades B) Prepare operaTIng philosophies and propose best-cost technical opTIons for reliability, availability, and energy yield improvement. C) Support troubleshooTIng for PV, BESS, inverter/transformer/switchgear issues and recurring plant failures. 5) O&M Engineering DocumentaTIon A) Create and maintain O&M procedures for PV plants and BESS – OperaTIon work instrucTIons, prevenTIve maintenance, correcTIve maintenance, switching procedures, safety procedures, lockout/tag-out, emergency response, spares strategy, commissioning/acceptance support documents. B) Provide technical training material and support capability-building of Engineering & O&M teams. 6) Technical Supply Chain & Vendor Management A) Define and finalize technical specificaTIons for major plant components including (but not limited to): PV modules, inverters, transformers, LV switchgear, MV switchgear, BESS, EMS, SCADA, PPC/Plant Controller, communicaTIon systems, protecTIons, metering, and auxiliary systems. B) Lead vendor selecTIon support, including: a) Techno-commercial evaluaTIon of offers, compliance matrices, clarificaTIons, deviaTIons assessment, and negoTIaTIon support. b) Evaluate vendor documentaTIon (datasheets, drawings, calculaTIons, FAT/SAT procedures) and ensure adherence to specificaTIons. c) Monitor and evaluate vendor performance on delivery quality, documentaTIon, aŌersales support, spares, warranty handling, and technical responsiveness. 8) Team Leadership & Cross-FuncTIonal CoordinaTIon A) Manage a mulTI-discipline team (Electrical, Civil/Structural, Procurement/Purchase): task planning, technical review, mentorship, performance management, and delivery accountability. B) Coordinate with Project Management, ConstrucTIon, HSE, SCM, Quality, O&M and Commercial teams for schedule alignment, risk management and cost-effecTIve technical decisions.
